Job Description

  • Evaluate and maintain legal compliance with Company, Mining Legal and Regulatory plus Customer requirements in all areas relevant to health & safety
  • Responsible for annual budget and forecasting and monthly cost reporting to manage costs within budget parameters;
  • Perform regular inspections, as required by the customer and all other Inspections
  • Implement, assist and control internal and external audit processes for areas of responsibility, and report the performance of these audits to management on a monthly basis.
  • Implement, assist and control H&S risk assessments and make recommendations for improvements as required to the Mine
  • Ensure all H&S requirements are adhered to, including the issue and effective use of PPE, with the objective of achieving the Mine’s target of zero accidents, incidents and property damages.
  • Coordinate, report and control accurate record keeping relating to H&S statistics and participate on incident investigations as and when required.
  • Advise, guide and support applicable management to ensure that H&S procedures and policies are implemented, operating effectively and that all personnel are fully engaged and trained in the processes.
  • Ensure that H&S objectives and targets for Botswana are rolled out and effectively implemented at areas of responsibilities
  • Assist and advise with necessary H&S Training Needs for the Mine site to ensure compliance with all statutory and other requirements (i.e. Legal appointments, Driven machinery, Lifting equipment, etc.).
  • Oversee Safe Work Procedures rollout for All Capital Machines
  • Conduct risk assessments to highlight the areas of potential risk must be reduced
  • Maintain stakeholder relationship and maintain relationships with SHEQ Department, Finance Department, Business Unit Department Personnel, Logistics Department, Suppliers and Customers
  • Any other additional/ad-hoc tasks and/or responsibilities at the discretion of management, after consultation as agreed upon.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant Degree in Health & Safety Management
  • Ideally 20+ yrs industry experience with at least 5+ years within a Health and Safety Management function within mining
  • Successful track record in H&S objectives through zero harm;
  • Solid experience in managing budgets, business, commercial and corporate financial processes.
